Here are some of the issues/questions I have helped hundreds of parents to manage:

  1. How do I know if my child is being bullied?
  2. What questions do I ask to find out what is really going on in school?
  3. Recognizing if teasing, taunting and exclusion are bullying problems that I need to help my child manage.
  4. Identifying if my child is vulnerable to bulling and what I can do to help?
  5. My child is bullying other kids and I need help.
  6. My child has few friends and spends time alone in school.
  7. Birthday party exclusion.
  8. Identifying the ways the girls bully my daughter and how to help her.
  9. My son/daughter won't talk about being picked on, but they don't want to go to school.
  10. I spoke with my child's teacher about bullying, but they don't see it.
  11. I'm getting reports of my child being aggressive to others but I don't know what to do.
  12. My son is not participating in recess activities but wants to play.
  13. The gossiping that is going on in my daughter's class is overwhelming for her.
  14. The clique in school is too much to handle and my daughter comes home crying everyday.
  15. Bus bullying is out of control.
  16. Is the school doing enough to manage bullying?
  17. Who do I speak with about bullying and not get lip-service?
  18. Discipline problems about your child reported by the classroom teacher.
  19. Calling other parents when there is a bullying incident.
  20. Teaching my child skills to help him/her fend off bullying.
  21. Teaching my child values to help him/her be a better friend.
  22. Improving my child's sense of self to defend against being a victim.
  23. My child has been bullied, and I don't want this to permanently scar him/her.
  24. What can I do as a parent?

The most important parenting tip I could give you is this:

You have to make yourself available to your child through the ups and downs of life without judgment, criticism, or anger. They must believe that you will actively listen, and offer your support, guidance, love and wisdom at all times so they will come to you when things feel difficult, embarrassing or scary.
